CHROMITE

Zambales

Brief Geology

Zambales region is well-known for its rich Nickel Laterite and Chromite deposits. Old metallurgical and refractory chromite mines in the 70’s left behind economic chromite-rich tailings in Masinloc. Upgrade of these materials will result into economically marketable chromite sand. Low-grade chromite can also be processed and upgraded for foreign markets like China.

Evaluation and assessments of Small-Scale Mining Permit (SSMP), Exploration Permit (EP), and Mineral Processing Sharing Agreement (MPSA) License areas were conducted by CCILMMRC for Chromite within the entire Zambales Province. In areas and licenses with mineral potential, Memorandum of Agreement and Supply Agreement were signed to provide and supply low- grade chromite for the mineral processing plant. Regional to semi-detailed geological surveys were also implemented by the technical staff of CCILMMRC in search of chromite and other base metals within the region.
